the time is near. i will be leaving for asia in approximately 6 hours. wow. i still can't wrap my mind around that.
i have been in california for the past 2 weeks. first week was on an island right outside san diego with my family. it was a really nice and relaxing week. perfect for spending lots of quality family time before i leave. and the people there ride their bikes everywhere... beach cruisers especially (which reminded me of my dear katie). it was grand.
this past week was spent in riverside, california. there are lots of us, but my team consists of 9 other teachers; we have been training and preparing for this adventure. they are great. :) each one of them has a beautiful heart and we work together really well.
i cannot wait to meet my students. to see the streets of hanoi and the people there. ah... i am ready, but so inadequate at the same time.
you all will be deeply missed. but i cannot wait to come back and share my pictures and stories with you all. you are near and dear to my heart. and i hope your summers are so great!
love. looooove you.

lol, thanks love. yeah, i can't wait to laugh about it later as we all sit up late at night tell the stories of our travels, with lots of tears and smiles and reminiscing.
i think by the time you read this, you'll be IN vietnam! (unless you have a stops in other countries before then)
i'm also so proud of you for taking this leap of faith and courage and going to a foreign country to love on the children and teach them a language that will hopefully only benefit them. :) i can't wait to hear how God works through you in the challenges and triumphs. one thing i've learned after traveling this big world (and i still haven't seen half of it) is that God is ever-present. He is everywhere, and for the longest time, i think i confined Him to America (how lame and naive of me, right?)
i'm not sure what you will encounter, be it extremely poor people, extremely wealthy people (there is seldom a middle class), or just people who haven't been touched or spoken to lovingly, but i do know that what you are doing has already been ordained and blessed by our Father.
here's a sweet quote i got in Africa:
"stop asking God to bless what you're doing. get involved in what God is doing, as it is already blessed..." --Bono
thanks for being willing to go out and be a part of something that is already blessed by Him, somewhere He's been since the beginning of time.
you are so loved.
